Type of management that aims to eliminate all types of waste in order to increase the value for customers. It is the starting point of the lean method of Toyota (Japanese car manufacturer) from the 1930s. It was then adopted in the 1990s by other economic sectors.

This method is similar to “Taylorism” (increase the efficiency of production, quality, etc., by researching performance). There are 7 types of waste: overproduction, transport, waiting, unnecessary treatments, unnecessary movements, stocks, defect corrections.

The principle here is to prefer, for example, to stop the production line if a worker notices a defect, rather than to deliver a finished product with this defect. It is better to repair this immediately, rather than repair it later, as this is more expensive.
